I read a very interesting post this morning on Meredith Farkas’ blog, Information Wants To Be Free. She discusses the conflicts between making time for scholarship on the tenure track and the demands of a challenging job.
While I am not on a tenure track, many librarians are in this type of position. I still have a very strong interest in getting my work published and making presentations to the profession. What should ring true for many of us in this post is the idea of being proactive; setting up a five year career plan based on our real interests and determine how these influence our institution.
It is great to read a post like this. I needed to hear it.
